Prima di iniziare, qualche parola sull' unità 16D5S e perché abbiamo fatto questa scelta.In primo luogo, la SPI della EEPROM è bloccata, come nei lettori vecchi e il pin WP è collegato a massa, rendendo impossibile cancellarla o riscriverla.Perché il vecchio metodo Geremia / kamikaze non è possibile sulle unità 16D5S?La zona dove filo WP può essere tagliato è inferiore a 1 mm e il filo WP è parallelo al filo DO con 0,1 mm di separazione tra essi.Tagliare il filo WP, senza danneggiare il filo DO è possibile quando al chip è stata tolta la resina protettiva (decapped) e con un buon microscopio, ma non si vede come la gente potrebbe farlo in casa.Per questo motivo, abbiamo sviluppato un PCB sostitutivo simile al nostro precedente, ma con un po' di hardware necessario in più per soddisfare le esigenze di crittografia del firmware.Questa scheda andrà a sostituire il PCB originale e funziona su qualsiasi non-modded Xbox360 (compreso Corona V2 4GB e quelli con Dashboard 15.572 o superiore).Il firmware è finito e stabile e ha tutte le caratteristiche che ci si aspetta, stealth, XGD3, funzionali con tutti i giochi (in pratica tutto ciò che ha iXtreme 3.0) e alcune funzioni aggiuntive che si intendono testare che saranno incluse nella release finale .Il nuovo video mostra prima l'unità 16D5S collegata ad una scheda madre Corona (guardare l'IC e controllare le tracce che vanno al connettore SATA per vedere che questo è davvero un disco 16D5S).Un gioco originale è già dentro (l'unità è a testa in giù per mostrare il PCB) e si vede che l'unità è riconosciuta dalla scheda madre di Xbox.Il lettore viene poi scambiato con un altro PCB già installato, e viene mostarto un po' del gioco per dimostrare che funziona sulla stessa scheda madre.Altri video saranno pubblicati a breve, ma per ora il nostro tempo è speso nella fase di sviluppo dei filmati.Ciò è dovuto principalmente alla perdita del video per mostrare la nostra volontà di lavorare senza alcuna programmazione hardware / debugging è normalmente collegato alle unità durante la fase di sviluppo.Grazie a Yoann-95 per le informazioni.

Before we begin, some notes regarding the 16D5S drives and why we made the choices that we made :

First of all, the SPI eeprom is locked just like in the old drives and the WP pad is connected to GND, thus making it impossible to erase/rewrite.

Why the old Geremia/kamikaze style method is not feasible in the 16D5S drives :

The area were the WP wire can be cut is less than 1mm in length and the WP bonding wire runs parallel to the DO bonding wire with around 0.1mm of separation between them.

Cutting the WP wire without damaging the DO wire is doable when the chip is decapped and under a good microscope but we can't see any way where someone can do this without some serious lab instruments.

For this reasons we have developed a replacement PCB, similar to our previous Freedom replacement PCB but with some additional hardware needed to cope with the enhanced crypto requirements in the 16D5S firmware.

This PCB will replace the original drive PCB and work on any unmodded Xbox360 (including the 4GB V2 coronas and those with dashboard 15572+ ).

The firmware is finished and stable and has all the features you would expect :

stealth, XGD3, all titles work (basically everything iXtreme 3.0 has) plus some additional features that we are testing and considering for inclusion in the final release.
